Perhaps the main symbol of Modern Box is the Selwyn Hall built in 1969 as a sports facility and village hall. We recall how and why it happened with early photos of its development.

Unusual Houses

Box is characterised with houses built of natural ashlar limestone blocks, most of which date to the late Victorian period.

But there are some which stand out as different, like Alexandra Terrace and Valens Terrace both of which were constructed in brick. Do you recognise this Unusual House in the centre of the village?

Or perhaps you can help find the descendants of Eva Young, a nurse at Sunnyside Children's Home in the 1950s.
