Privacy Notice
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires us to publish a Privacy Notice with information about the personal data we hold. We hold the names of all people who have contacted us about the history of Box and its residents. This includes the email address of each correspondent, and in a few cases their home address and telephone number. Ours is a free-to-use website and we do not hold any bank details whatsoever. The records are held in a list on the personal computer of the website editor. The computer is password protected and appropriate security backup copies are maintained. Have we offended Your Copyright?
Every attempt has been made to obtain permission to reproduce copyright material. If any inadvertent error or incorrect  acknowledgment has been made, we invite copyright holders to inform us of the mistake.

Who Can Contribute?
We welcome everyone of any age to submit entries for possible inclusion. We review entries to avoid defamation, plagiarism or prejudice. We reserve the right to edit or to refuse publication. We ask children to give their age.

How Can I Disagree or Amend Articles?
Write to us at boxpeopleandplaces@yahoo.co.uk OR use the Contact tab to get in touch. We welcome your help in correcting errors and typos.

Why Do We Use Outdated Measurements and Terms?
We use the terminology in use at the historic time. Occasionally this includes words now considered inappropriate (such as spinster, lunatic or gypsy). We often try to explain this through footnotes but if anything offends you, please tell us and we will address your concern.

Why Do We Use Italics So Much?
We use italics to show original wording from old documents (including misspelling). We also use it for words that have dropped out of common usage or whose meaning has altered over time (showing the modern translation in brackets). We sometimes use it to give editorial comment to differentiate from the author's text.
