Darkest Hour      Autumn 2020     Issue 29

Picture
The people shown here were founders of the Box Fascist Movement in 1925. Their chairman was George Edward Northey and the vicar George Foster wrote sympathetically about them. They weren't alone in holding these right-wing views and the photo shows numerous local men and women. We consider why they joined the movement and attitudes in Box at this time.
