Box in the 1930s was similar to our modern village but not the same, as this historic photograph shows (courtesy John Brooke Flashman). The curved roof (left) was Brownings Garage on the Devizes Road; the black building (middle) was the Bingham Hall; the white, square house (bottom) was Little Orchard, Bulls Lane; and the structure between Box School and Hardy House was​ The Shed.
