Mill Lane Halt Autumn 2022 Issue 37 |
|
The station in the centre of Box was built in 1930 and closed in 1965. It lasted only some 30 years but the impact of Mill Lane Railway Halt was enormous. We trace its story with some amazing photographs from the time.

Today I took delivery of a Grandfather clock. So what, you might ask? Well, this Grandfather clock was made by my four times great-grandfather, William Bullock, in about 1840. So, now this clock is back in the family! The Bullock family were well-known and respected watch and clockmakers for 200 years around Bath and the surrounding area. William’s grandfather Zephaniah, my six times great-grandfather, has a clock face that he made around 1745 on display in the British Museum! The clock purchased from heydaysantiques of Milton Keynes now resides in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
