The story of the Suffragette Movement in Box has never been recorded previously. Now a number of local history enthusiasts has assembled their research to produce details of local men and women involved in the movement in the years before the First World War. The story includes a confrontation with David Lloyd George, Chancellor of the Exchequer, and attempts to sabotage Box Railway Tunnel.

Talk by Alan Payne explaining how politics, religion and the English Civil War shaped schools in the village.

​"Hazelbury History Hoard" 
Talk by Steven Simmons on local detectorist finds which
re-shaped Box's history.

Saturday 18 October 10.30am-noon
"Local Garden Finds" 
Presentation by Box schoolcildren of their finds including remarkable Roman Villa treasures.

This series is in honour of John Brooke, chairman of Box Parish Council, who recorded events during his tenure in Kingsdown and central Box and kept alive memories of Box's past history.
