Percy Stanley Chandler
Erroll Chandler and Chandler Family Association
September 2016
The Chandler name is common-place in England because "chandlers" were shopkeepers selling oil, soap, paint, and groceries needed in every town and village. It makes family research very difficult. Ian Chandler recorded his search for ancestors and recorded the difficulties in his article Chandler Family. He wondered if they were connected to Percy Chandler who lived at Manor Farm after the Second World War and ran a taxi business.

When Erroll Chandler of the Chandler Family Association read the story he wrote to us to clarify. It seems that Percy wasn't related to Ian's branch but instead was connected with the Oatley Family. Here are Erroll's details.

Erroll Chandler Wrote
Percy Stanley Chandler
married Emma B Meeking. Their marriage was registered at Chippenham in the 2nd quarter of 1926.
His death was registered at Warminster in the 4th quarter of 1949.

Percy’s parents were Henry Chandler and Sarah Oatley. They were married at Box and the marriage was registered at Chippenham in the 4th quarter of 1875 (Volume 5a, page 107).
Can anyone add more to our knowledge of Percy Stanley Chandler; is there a photograph from Percy's time?
