Wonderful Ladies: Mrs Pinker and Mrs Diffell          Jane Hammerton          March 2018
Picture
Box Hill residents enjoying the Box Hill Old Age Pensioners Party put on at the Quarryman's Arms by Bob and Lauri Hancock in 1969.

I came across your website recently and smiled to see a photo of my dinner lady from Box Highlands School - Mrs Pinker - in the article about Box Hill Families. I can still hear her voice now! There is of course another lady I recognised, the very kind Mrs Diffell. Please pass on my thanks to Richard Pinker for putting his photos on the website.
Lovely to see his mother again, I was so fond of her.

Richard Pinker Added about his Mother
Thank you very much for sending that message. Strange thing about my mother was that it was her first real job - dinner lady - she started in when she was in her mid sixties and went on into her seventies. She loved it.
Good to see that sharing photos always brings pleasure to others.

Bob Hancock Added about Jean Diffell
Jean and her husband Dave Diffell were treasurers of the Over 60s club at Box Hill that we ran at the Quarryman's Arms in the 1960s. They helped to arrange fund raising, the Christmas Party we held and coach outings for the elderly.
Great times.
