Memories of Box Highlands People        Brian Palmer       December 2018
Picture
Several people have written to us about their memories of growing up on Box Hill and the Boxfields Estate after the Second World War. Like the following from Pauline Paradise, they often are looking for photos of residents: "I went to Box Highlands School from 1944 to 1949. I have many memories including a very special headmaster Mr Warburton and needlework teacher Mrs Starosta. I would be interested if any one has any pictures of these people."

One of the most complete photographs is the one above of residents from the estates going on a Labour Party outing to Weymouth in September 1950 when the coaches stopped for a break at Blandford Forum on the way to Weymouth.
Brian (Brin to many people) remembers it well as a small child and recalls several of the other people on the outing.
