Memories of Early Bargates
Margaret Wakefield November 2017
I remember going often to Alma as a child (see Helen Marsili's article about the house) and, of course, I remember my early years playing on the Green in Bargates when we lived at number 17 from about 1951 to 1957. It was much more of a gathering place for the local children in those days than it is today. It was just a stone's throw from the railway embankment where we also played !!
Can you add to the story of Bargates and Brunel Way in the early years of their development ? We would love to record more of the story of the houses and their residents.
