UPDATE : 4pm on 17th November 2015 :

We have learnt today that the Wiltshire Council panel charged with this review has recommended that the counter-proposal put forward by Box Parish Council be placed before the full Wiltshire Council for endorsement and ratification. This proposal aimed to unify Rudloe by moving the part of Rudloe presently within Corsham over into Box Parish.

At the Wiltshire Council Review meeting some 200 people attended, the vast majority were Box parishioners who vehemently objected to the original proposal by Corsham. This must have impressed the review panel who have now recommended that in fact 'Corsham/Rudloe' now becomes 'Box/Rudloe !'

Wiltshire Council is holding an Extraordinary Council meeting on the 24th November at 10.30am at Trowbridge where this recommendation - and several other boundary reviews concerning other parts of Wiltshire as well will be voted on.

Thanks to All Box and Rudloe Residents
As at mid-November this is still just a recommendation but the Wiltshire Council advisory panel obviously has taken on board the views of residents. It seems that commonsense has prevailed and hopefully we can return to normality.

Of course the discussions have involved considerable effort and anxiety and many think that the process has been unnecessarily divisive. At the same time, the debate has shown all that it best about being part of the Box rural community. Thanks to the genuine commitment of residents of Box and Rudloe, the area has become even more united than previously. Hopefully we can now return to enjoying our lives with our fellow residents and get back to normal with our friends and neighbours in Corsham and the rest of Wiltshire, where we recognise that we all are privileged to live.

Thanks go to all the people who attended any of the consultation meetings, to those who sent in comments and particularly to our representatives at Box Parish Council. It is probably unfair to single out chairman Pauline Lyons, vice chairman Alan Clench and clerk Margaret Carey, but their efforts at particularly difficult times have been outstanding.
