Early Pictor Image? Text and image courtesy Keith Wischhusen July 2023 I have something more possibly about the Pictor family in Box. it is an Ambrotype photo of a seated man, which probably dates between 1860–1865-ish because of the process. It is about two inches by three, mounted in a little box. We know nothing about the sitter, but it may be that it is someone from the Pictor family and someone might see a family resemblance in their own family photos. We cannot think of any other branch of the family with the money or the achievements to suggest a likely sitter. Can anyone see a resemblance between someone in their family photos and this man, as this might be someone in the Pictor family? This little ambrotype in a box probably dates from about 1860, but the young man might have had other photographs taken later in life with other processes. Do you have any idea who this man might be? |
