Modern Alma Cottage Brian Richardson October 2017 When I moved to the area in 1983, Alma was occupied by two young men Paul and Chris, surnames unknown to me). I believe that Alma was actually owned by Chris's sister who lived abroad, perhaps in Switzerland? Alma was subsequently sold and Paul and Chris moved to another property in Box. Alma was purchased by Paul and Bridget Gregory. Bridget was a vet and she and Paul apparently bought it largely to overlook his family's farm down in the Bybrook valley.
Alma was later sold to Alun and Lynne Colley. They had moved from Cheltenham because Alun, who was ex-Army, had taken a job with the Territorial Army (TA) in Bath. When Alun retired from the TA, he and Lynne moved to Chew Magna to manage an estate, and Alma was rented out to various people. After Alun's death, Lynne moved back to Alma. She died a couple of years ago and the property was inherited by their daughters, Anne-Marie and Nicola. Alma has since been rented out. Left: Viewed from Beech Road (courtesy Carol Payne) |
