Remembering Corrie Colling Penny & John Newboult July 2026
The article about Rev Colling was wonderful. When he and Nancie came to Ditteridge we attended Bath Abbey on a regular basis as we had been married there and Caroline baptised there in 1965. That all ended when Corrie knocked on doors drumming up support for St Christopher’s. We were living in Clydesdale Road at the time and Rosie was christened by Corrie in November 1971 and that was the start of our long association with St Christopher’s.
They ran a very successful Junior Church (this in the days when Sunday was still special and youngsters did not have sporting activities) and under Nancie’s supervision the children made simnel cakes at Easter.
After Corrie’s death Nancie moved into part of Inghalls Cottage which was then split into two houses. Eventually Nancie moved into a care home at Seaton. Pat and Roger Hooper, who lived at The Retreat in 1963, regularly visited her.
