I think that Footpath 38 and the field next to it was filled with rubble from the prefabricated houses at Boxfields when they were demolished. Some of the beech trees on the common are half buried and haven’t got correct bottoms. The tree bit just next to the photo on the right used to be a warm grassy hollow with Tom Thumb flowers.
